Why Do Some Say PLR Suck?

First of all, why do some people say that they can’t use Private Label Rights (PLR) in their own online home based business? There are several reasons why you’ll need to know some things if you plan to use PLR to promote and market your business. Otherwise you’re going to cause some damage to yourself when you try making money online.

Here are the common problems you won’t know with PLR products until you get them – you don’t know how old they are, what’s the quality of the content and you don’t know if it’s been used before. But we’re not just going to talk about the problems, we’re going to find out what you can do about it. Let’s dive right in!

How Old Are They?

Most of the time, PLR products come in a package in a compressed file or zip folder. If you take a look at the “modified” tab, you might be in for a rude shock.

There are times when you can get packages that claim to be brand new and when you open it up – the content is actually YEARS old! Sure, if the content is good, there’s no harm in using it again right? The problem with PLR is that people who use them generally don’t go to the trouble of repackaging them and even when it’s resold, it’s still not updated!

If you want to reuse the old content as it is without changing anything, then it’d better be good stuff and hopefully, your readers won’t find out because the search engines search will.

So what happens if you get something like this? The least you should do is to edit the documents so that the date is nearer to the recent dates, create a new compressed folder and put them in! It’s as simple as that and it doesn’t take a few minutes to complete. Not doing this will simply mean that it’s a junk, rehashed product – which will do harm to both the buyer and the seller.

What’s The Quality?

A very common reason why most people don’t recommend and use PLR is also because of the immense amount of crap information that the reader has to dig through in order to get to the good stuff.

Ever heard the saying that first impressions count? Well, not only does the cover of your PLR product speak volumes, the first few pages of it is very important as well! The early introduction to the product is very critical as readers will be interested and in the learning mode. By providing poor quality information that makes no sense, you’ll be insulting their intelligence and it’s definitely harmful to both you and your business.

So what should you do? If you want to use such PLR, you literally have to be like a graverobber and dig through the dead material to find the valuable material to use.

Have They Been Used Before?

Wherever you get the PLR from, if it says that it’s never been sold before and it’s brand new. Make sure that you do a quick search on Google. Simply copy-and-paste the whole first paragraph and perform a search on Google. If the search engine results page (SERPs) turn up with lots of results of the exact paragraph, then you’ll know that the product is another recycled PLR.

However, if there’s only one or two results but it’s the exact same, then you can go ahead and use it. As PLR gives anyone the right to use it as it is – many people will. But if you want your content to be unique, a quick rewrite of the first few sentences and the title will usually be enough.

What Can You Do?

Lastly, what can you do after all these? If you got all these products and you paid a high price for it but you can’t use them or repurpose them, then you might want to seek a refund. Be sure to check on the money back guarantees on the site. Also, next time when you see a huge list of products that people online and selling and giving away for a ridiculously low amount – watch out because it’s very likely those are products of extreme low value as well!
