20 Point Starter Guide To Professional Blogging
Welcome back, feel free to comment!

A blog is a website that publishes new updates, new articles, new information by blog posts – this is a great tool to use if your online business requires you to constantly be updating and innovating yourself. Some people have made a lifestyle being a professional blogger and you can be one too if you want to blog for a living.
Nowadays, blogs need to be attractive and provide great information as well as entertainment value all at the same time – it’s not enough to just have a blog with a lot of word posts. You may not be able to get repeat visitors to your site (which is crucial to a professional blogger).
What does a new visitor look out for when he comes to a blog? Here’s a list:
- Title of post – This is the headline, the hint of what the content of your post is to your visitor/reader. Much like the headlines of a newspaper, the title is that which captures the initial attention of your reader and encourages him/her to continue reading.
- Date of posting – Visitors like to visit blogs which are recent and have been updated. Nobody likes to visit a site that’s not been showing information year.
- Main body – You need to provide relevant information in your blog entries. You can put a few promotional entires but don’t overdo it… you want your visitors to keep coming back because you can provide real valuable information.
- Pings and trackbacks – Fellow bloggers want to see this. If you are in a niche and you accept trackbacks and pings from other bloggers, they would consider creating a blog post that would create a trackback link for potential traffic back to their site.
- Comments - People like to see other people comment. If there’s zero comments, visitors hardly want to be the first one. Also, are you making it easy for your visitors to leave a comment?
If you do decide to be a professional blogger, you have to make it a point to have fresh content on a regular basis. You may need to have daily blog posts when you are starting out… once you are getting more traffic, your visitors would “forgive” you if you post once a week or so – but that’s only when you become a true professional blogger.
How does a professional blogger make money? Because the blog is getting consistent traffic and visitors, they can make money by:
- Advertising (Google Adsense, Banner Advertisements, etc)
- Sponsored advertisements
- Affiliate programs
- Joint blogging to cross promote
- Making use of donations
- Selling a blog that’s getting consistent traffic
- Selling physical products
- Selling services like consulting
