The sole mission of search engines like Google is to help people to get what they are searching for. Therefore, knowing how search engines work is important to you because if you know how they work, you can turn that to your advantage.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of creating contents in such a way that will cause your website and webpage to rank high in the search engines.
It involves using the appropriate targeted keyword phrases that is related to the content of the webpage in the title, the description, the various meta tags, the footer, the body content, et cetera.

Websites that are very text heavy versus websites that have lots and lots of graphics - which would rank better? You know, the “ugly” sites are just words all over and when you click on a link, all you see are more words, more text! A “pretty” site, when you visit it, blows your mind with the impressive graphics and special effects. You feel like clicking on more of the links just to see the special effects! So, which website would sell better? The pretty one right?
People who are well-versed with SEO knowledge will have the answer pretty quick: It’s the websites that are very text heavy - then the question comes up - but why? There are websites and squeeze pages that are ugly as sin yet they get sales and show up on the search engines whilst there are those that look pretty and awesome (pretty awesome) but get no sales and sometimes, they don’t even turn up on search engines!
