Suffering From Low Click Through Rate (CTR) Syndrome?

People who do article marketing need to remember 2 things – the articles you write generate exposure about you and it generates traffic to your site through the link that you provide at the end of the article.

The problem that most people face is that they have a great article title, good quality content but the resource box with the link for the reader to click on doesn’t get clicked! Lots of budding article marketers give up on this because they hear that people can get averages of 20% CTR whereas they are not anywhere even near 10%.

So they often wonder Why are my click through rates so low? How do I increase my click through rates?

9 Tips To Increasing CTR

Here are some tips for you to use to apply in your own article marketing efforts to get the maximum amount of clicks.

Tell them to click – It’s weird but true. Many people just assume that the reader will click the link, you need to tell the reader to click on the link to get more information or to find out about something.

Give them an added bonus – Encourage people to click on your link by telling them that they will get something free when they visit. The added bonus can be a free report, free subscription, free tips, free video, free training, et cetera. Make it irresistable to click with your bonuses.

Cliffhanger article – Ever watched those shows when it ends just when it gets exciting? Those are cliffhangers and they work like magic. People hate incomplete things. If you write your article, structure your resource box in such a way that it tells the reader to click on your link to get the whole complete article.

Branding wrongly – Lots of resource boxes look like this: “Max is an expert of this and that and he has made so much of this and that with people that love him for it because of his this and that.” While it’s important to brand, doing this in the beginning without actually having any real results to prove for it can actually harm you instead of brand you.

Attractive branding – If you want to brand yourself as an expert in your articles, you need to provide some attractive features in your resource box. You can state that you made how much money over a period of time but you better make sure that you can back up that fact.

Use magnetic words – It’s proven that there are some words that will naturally magnetize our eyes to look at it to find out more information. Words like free, bonus, who else, next, get, et cetera are words that make us want to find out more. Structure those words into your resource box.

People love to see numbers – Using numbers in your resource box is a great way to attract the click because with the use of numbers, there is implied promise there. If you state that you made how much money over a period of time, it implies that the reader can learn how to make that money in that time. If you state that they will get 7 tips to something, it imples that that they will be getting something in quantity.

Less mind clutter – Your resource box should not have too many links that point to all different places. Structure your articles so that they only direct traffic to 1 or 2 sites. Giving the reader only 1 link to click with can help increase CTR because the reader doesn’t have to decide which link to click – help him make that decision.

Put a picture in their heads – Describing a consequence with words can help to encourage the reader to click your link. People think in pictures and if you can describe what they are feeling or facing into pictures, it encourages them to click. You can describe either a favourable result or a bad result if they click (or don’t click) on your link.

Asher says… “While this isn’t an exhaustive list of how to increase your CTR – there’s enough information here that you can use to improve it from today. However, it’s not just about the resource box – a lot has to do with article title and content.
