There were 2 very well-known speakers on the final day of the conference. I shan’t name the one which didn’t do that well but I will highlight the one which did very well – Mr Stephen Pierce himself.
Allow me to share with you how it happened. Every speaker gets to pitch his or her product at the end of their session – this is normal and for what they’ve been providing, it’s only fair that they get to pitch. Now, there was this famous author who was pitching his program.
He was very energetic, full of confidence, power and he was obviously in his element. When he got to pitching, people started to get up. He proclaimed proudly on stage that the people who were getting up were smart and that they’d better hurry so that they can get in on the program.
More and more people were getting up and heading towards the booth – in the meantime, he was still selling on stage. The original price of his product was in the $20,000 range and he started saying “But only for today, it’s not $20,000 – it’s not even $19,000. No, not $18,000″ and he went down by the thousands.
Eventually, the price landed to less than $2,000 and by then, almost the whole crowd was up. I looked at the crowd and observed something very interesting – a huge number of that crowd was holding their bags… as well as heading out the door.
To the author, it looked like everyone was getting into his program but turns out that most people were heading out the door for lunch.
The last speaker of the day was Stephen Pierce. Now, due to the speaker before him extending himself – Stephen had to start a little late.
After giving great value in his session, it was his turn to pitch. And when he started to pitch, just like the other speaker… people started to get up. He also proclaimed on stage that those who were getting up had to hurry so that they can get in on the program.
His slides actually had a countdown timer and people were moving towards the booths. In the meantime, he was still selling on stage. However, the difference this time lay in him giving more value in his package. He started to throw in “But only for today, you will get it at $2,497. But that’s not all, you will also get special training videos.”
He started to up the package by adding more and more things into it.
This was starting to sound a little familiar so I looked at the exit… no one was heading towards that direction. 90% of the people who got up were actually heading to the booths to sign up or buy.
Now, at this time, people were eager to leave… it was very late but compared to the earlier speaker, the people didn’t mind sticking around to buy or find out what he’s got to offer.
Amazing.
Very cool to see someone who knows selling doing it live and watching how he mesmerizes the whole place to become buyers. I don’t think the first guy had a bad program, but just that he didn’t know how to sell and market like a pro.
Watching how Stephen did it was a lesson in itself. Learn to sell correctly and people will flock to buy!
